• The study, which is the result of a socialist motion approved unanimously in plenary, will focus on analyzing the services of the future Mediterranean Corridor by the more than 1,600 companies located in the 5 business áreas of Paterna

The City Council of Paterna has begun to carry out a study of the potential demand for the services of the future Mediterranean Corridor by the more than 1,600 companies located in its business areas, among which a significant percentage of companies produce at national and international markets.

The study, which will be carried out by a consultancy firm of recognized prestige, is the result of the unanimous approval in plenary of the motion presented by the Socialist Group requesting an analysis of the railway connection of industrial areas of Paterna.

“"The Mediterranean Corridor is going to become one of the main transport axes of the country that will connect diferent areas with important economic activity and that produce great demands for the transport of godos, and Paterna aspires to be one of those areas ”, highlighted the Mayor of Paterna, Juan Antonio Sagredo.

"The Mediterranean railway corridor is an excellent opportunity for Paterna and Valencian companies to access a cheaper, faster, more frequent and more reliable way of distribution," added the mayor.

In Sagredo's opinion, “this study will allow us to have an analysis document that will help us make decisions regarding strategies and / or subsequent studies for the implementation of a specific facility (shuttle or logistics terminal ) based on the real possibilities of capturing merchandise traffic (destination and volume) of Paterna companies through the Mediterranean Corridor ”.

In this regard, the Mayor has also explained that, taking into account the characteristics of the companies and the sector of activity to which they belong, their size, their billing data or their levels of export and import, etc., “the study will carry out an analysis of the potential transfer of goods to the railroad and determine the traffic that can be captured by the railroad, both due to the trend growth of the existing traffic and the modal transfer from the road to the railroad, modifying the current modal distribution ”.

"It is about connecting the five business parks with the future Mediterranean Corridor to increase the competitiveness of our companies, their activity and therefore employment, consolidating Paterna as a strategic location of the territorial and national logistics map," said Sagredo.
