The Economic Promotion Area of Paterna City Council, is finalizing the Local Pact for Innovation, a city strategy to lead and promote innovation, together with the main social and economic agents of the Comunitat Valenciana, as the engine of the socioeconomic development of the city.

This initiative is part of the roadmap set by the local government to make Paterna, through ICT, not only a true Smart City, but also a competitive 'Smart Economic Zone', regional and state epicenter of business Innovation.

The pact, which is part of the Local Development Strategy promoted a year ago to create a favorable economic, social and academic environment that facilitates entrepreneurship and R & D & i, has among its priority objectives to consolidate Paterna as a smart city, position the city on the international map of innovation and research and promoting the development of social innovation as the axis for the increase of social welfare and quality of life of its citizens.

For this, the City Council aspires to get the maximum support for this local initiative, to which all the regional actors involved in business and institutional innovation, from public administrations, universities and technological entities to business organizations and unions, are expected to join.

"With this pact we want to seal the common commitment of all actors that subscribe it to promote innovation as a tool for social transformation," said Juan Antonio Sagredo, Mayor of Paterna and head of the area of Business, University and Industrial Estates.

In this regard, the Mayor has recalled: “since we entered the Mayor's Office, we are betting on the development of business innovation, promoting the integration of business in the industry 4.0, promoting the brand and association 'Paterna, City of Business', creating the Social Seal, implementing the Actua Project subsidized by the ERDF and carrying out a series of actions aimed to consolidate Paterna as a benchmark for an innovative and intelligent city”.

Finally, the Mayor has pointed out that this Local Pact for Innovation, which is accompanied by other local initiatives such as visits to cities with successful experiences in smart cities, and the development of a repository of good practices, will materialize in the elaboration of a Local Strategic Plan for Innovation where, with the participation of all the relevant agents, all present and future actions that allow Paterna to be configured in the City and smart economic zone are integrated and coordinated.
