Paterna became yesterday a business epicenter with the gala Paterna City Business Awards, a successful call in which the work of Paterna companies, entrepreneurs and workers was recognized.
In this first edition, the distinguished companies were Praxya, Sistemas Genónicos, Comsa, Tecnidex and Eugenia García, from Farmamundi.
The gala, which was held at the Grand Theater Antonio Ferrandis, was attended by numerous personalities from the local and regional business world and served to promote and value the economic strength and industrial potential of Paterna and the high level of the over 3,000 companies that are located in its municipal and give life to the brand "Paterna City of Business".
The Mayor of Paterna, Juan Antonio Sagredo, highlighted the need to establish these awards to promote the economic strength and industrial potential of Paterna and thanked all those who make Paterna a City of Business possible: companies, entrepreneurs, workers, employers, Unions and University.
During the event, the organization presented the website www.paternaciudaddeempresas.es, a very useful municipal tool for companies, since it contains information for the processing of licenses, and also allows knowing what industrial land is available, what Financial aid and subsidies can be requested, in addition to information on bonuses, business incubators or a catalog of warehouses for sale or rent, among other things.
The Mayor of Paterna was in charge of closing these business awards that "are here to stay" and which he defined as "an annual meeting for Paterna economy and a forum to share experiences, cooperate and promote inter-company relationships as well as a tribute and recognition to Employers, Unions and University”.
Throughout his speech, Sagredo referred to the importance of the 5 business parks in Paterna "that generate hundreds of jobs and contribute to autonomous economic growth" and stressed that Paterna is the first municipality of the province of Valencia, with almost 4,500 people who are self-employed. "We have 1 company for every 24 inhabitants, a figure that makes us the most nourished business hub in the entire Community," said the mayor.
Likewise, the Mayor of Paterna referred to the need to structure the territory to take advantage of the arrival of the Mediterranean Corridor and - in this regard - advanced that Paterna is going to demand financing and provide the necessary resources to get an intermodal station in Fuente del Jarro and a rail freight platform, parallel to the V-30 to the port.
Awarded Paterna City of Business 2016
- The Entrepreneur of the Year Award went to Praxya a company that offers technological solutions implemented with a new methodology to control and grow the SME business, which received the award from the Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Valencia, José Manuel Pastor.
- The Business Research and Innovation Award went to Sistemas Genómicos, the largest private company in the research of DNA and RNA genetic codes whose mission is to put genetic research at the service of society, a distinction that was awarded by the Secretary of Valencian Business Confederation (CEV), Miguel Ángel Javaloyes.
- The Award for the Socially Responsible Company of this edition has been for Comsa, which is the second unlisted Spanish group in the infrastructure and engineering sector, committed to the development of renewable energies by providing efficient solutions, as well as management activities, treatment and recovery of industrial waste and comprehensive water management, which received the award from the General Deputy Secretary of UGT-PV, Juan Carlos Faubel.
- The Award for Women Entrepreneurs was for Eugenia García, from Farmamundi, who received the award from the Autonomous Secretary for Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors and Commerce, Blanca Marín.
- Finally, the Mayor of Paterna, Juan Antonio Sagredo was in charge of handing over the Award for International Projection, which went to Tecnidex, a leading company in fruit and vegetable health that has implemented its model in countries such as Greece, Turkey, Morocco, Mexico or Peru.
