Amazon advances unstoppably in its expansion strategy in Spain and has already began to work to install its first logistics center in the Region. The electronic commerce giant will be located in Táctica Business Park -the third phase of Fuente del Jarro-, where it will locate its third warehouse in the country, after the ones of San Fernando de Henares in Madrid and Castellbisbal in Barcelona, which are operating at full capacity . In addition to these two warehouses, the company has two smaller urban facilities for its urgent delivery service in the first two capitals.

Paterna City Council expressed yesterday its "satisfaction that a multinational like Amazon has shown interest in the Tactica Business Park, one of the six business areas of the city, for its expansion plans in the region". However, in a context marked by strong discretion on both the company and the municipal government, the consistory limited to talk about "the possible arrival" of the US firm in the city. On the contrary, sources from the business environment of the industrial estate confirmed to LAS PROVINCIAS that they have started to work, as El Mundo announced yesterday, which also placed the start-up of the new center within a month.

For now, neither the multinational nor the city council have revealed any more data about the new warehouse, so it is not yet known whether it will be a macro logistics center like the one being built in El Prat de Llobregat, which will open the next October and will have more than 60,000 square meters. Precisely, the president of the Valencia Port Authority (APV), Aurelio Martínez, described the Barcelona facility as a benchmark "in southern Europe" and regretted that the project was not located in the ZAL of the Port of Valencia due to its state of paralysis for two decades.

However, the project proposed in Paterna represents a further boost for the Valencian industry, which in recent months has starred in important movements such as the landing in Parc Sagunt of the Coca-Cola can maker, the American multinational Crown Holdings, with an investment of 66 million euros.

25 ships across the country

With the arrival of Amazon in the Community, the company consolidates its commitment to creating a powerful logistics network in Spain with the commissioning of 25 facilities, which will consist of larger centers such as the one of San Fernando de Henares and other smaller ones such as that one of Martorelles (Barcelona), which will be launched at the end of this year and will occupy some 30,000 square meters. Among the most outstanding projects of its ambitious expansion plan is that of El Prat de Llobregat and the one that will be located in the province of Toledo, whose works are scheduled for 2018..

In addition, the company founded by Jeff Bezos will also install another warehouse in Los Gavilanes industrial estate in Getafe (Madrid), of about 58,000 square meters, and a smaller one in Alcobendas to serve the northern part of the region, according to what was published by the specialized economic newspaper Cinco Días last week.
